The fishing is the BEST, the guides work very hard and the food is GOURMET! I have never fished and found a grand slam daily as I did last year on the west side of Andros. Can't always get them to eat, but that's why we call it fishing. My favorite fishing adventure every year. What more could you ask for?

I fish at Stafford Creek Lodge every year. I have fished for bonefish all over the world and I believe Andros is the best in the Certainly there is no comparison to the popular Caribbean spots like Mexico and Belize. I live in Monatna, but the fishing (and especially the lodge) doesn't compare. The lodge at Stafford Creek is clean with large rooms, friendly helpful staff, and excellent food. The guides are great. They try very hard to find fish and handle the boats very well. If only I could casts like Prescott Shawn Solomon and Benry.

Stafford Creek is the finest and most professionally run lodge in the Bahamas. The commitment to excellence is apparent in the comfort of the accommodations, the daily lodge operation, the abilities of their chef, and the great skill and dedication of the guides. Prescott Smith, with able assistance from the staff and guides, have created the ultimate fly fishing destination.

I have been fishing with Prescott for 10 years and have been coming to the camp before it was operating. I have fished all over the world, but I always come back to Stafford Creek Lodge. Without a doubt it is the best salt water fly fishing destination in the world. The accommodations are 4-star and the food is better than on a cruise ship. The staff is professional and very friendly. Included in the amenities is complementary laundry, this is extremely helpful as I carry about half of the clothes I normally carry on a trip. The guides are all very knowledgeable and work hard. It is not unusual to fish from 6am to 6pm if the conditions merit. SCL is also very strategically placed so that you can fish from the Jolters to the North Bight, the West Side of Andros or for very big bones on the East side Ocean flats. I would be glad to talk to anyone about fishing at SCL.

My son, Clem, now a professional fly-fishing guide, and I have fished extensively in the Bahamas. We first fished with Prescott in 1995, before he created Stafford Creek Lodge. He was the best guide, most AMAZING fly-caster and best casting instructor then - and he still is, only now he also has the best, hands-down, saltwater fly-fishing lodge anywhere. The location is private and central to bones, permit and tarpon. The lodging is luxuriously appointed in private cabins, with an alert staff to handle any question or need.

The food is sophisticated and delicious at every meal. The guides are unfailingly polite, deeply knowledgeable and...a big bonus....engaging, funny and very good company! We have sent many avid fishermen friends there who have, to a one, declared Stafford Creek Lodge the best lodge they've ever experienced.

There are 43 runways in the Bahamas. As a pilot that has spent the last 18 years crisscrossing this beautiful country with my fly rod, I feel somewhat qualified to judge the quality of fisheries, lodges and guides in the Bahamas.

What I look for, first of all, is a good productive fishery. The lodge staff needs to be competent and accommodating, and the guides need to know what they are doing. In all my travels, there is no place else in the Bahamas that all of these elements, and more, come together in such a complete package.

Stafford Creek Lodge is a meticulously clean, well maintained and equipped lodge with a wonderful kitchen staff, and a picturesque location on the creek. The fishing for bonefish, tarpon, and permit is spectacular. But in my estimation, what sets Stafford Creek apart from a host of second place finishers is the quality and passion of the guides. They will fish from before sunup until after sundown if that is your desire. They know the waters and are also excellent fly fishing instructors that have been very helpful in improving my techniques, especially into the WIND.

Flats fishing gets no better than that found on Andros Island, due to an incomparable variety of terrain and species. Stafford Creek Lodge is the gem of this island, set on its namesake creek system where one sees bonefish, hears tarpon gulping air during the night, as well as cubera and mutton snapper, as well as bull sharks. Lodges are bright, the setting yields itself to camaraderie, food is delicious, but it is the owners and staff they have assembled that makes it the place I dream of from the day I fly out until my next return. Stafford Creek is family run and their pride shows through in every aspect of the lodge. Guides are equipped with top of the line boats and equipment and have skills to match. The beginner, as well as the skilled flats angler, will find the Stafford Creek experience unmatched. Prescott Smith is a wonderful, knowledgeable teacher, companion, and guide. He knows fishing and knows the ecology of the system, as well as the Androsians. Writing this makes me check my calendar to make certain my next trip is not too distant in the future.
